You do realise that loads of people spamming local chat DOES generate massive lag?
Me having experienced this before.
It probably had more to do with - You were going to die in a laggy situation anyway. Local Chat was being spamed in celebration/taunting/whatever over you. The ammount of data required for all of your chats is minimal. The lag being created would have been there regardless of the local chat spam.

When I was personally ganked this way, my client lagged out and when it returned, there was no goon gang except for an intie that had approached me and had now targetted and scrammed me, with tons of garbage in local. The gang then warped in a minute later. I honestly do not care about that loss as it was insignificant, and I have no reason to just make it up. You don't believe me? Honestly, I wouldn't either, but the fact is I have experienced this first hand. Maybe you're going to tell me the fgsfds bull in local was really just a handy inside language that only goonswarm would know, hmmm?
I am sure the lag had nothing to do with the people jumping into local, and then on grid of you, and everything to do with local chat spam. I mean, positions velocitys, and actions being sent from a whole gang of people to your computer is nothing compared to a line of text that says
FOFOFO
This is of course ignoring the fact that the chats are run on a separate server.

Not at the moment due to one of our recruiting Corps being in a war in Emp...no matter really...we simply can't hold your numbers on our own so for the past week we've been getting routed - props to you I'm sure, you're beating us. That just wasn't why I'd like to see you lot get kicked in the butt...if - if - BoB falls rest assured I'm pretty sure you guy's will end up being red to everyone simply 'cos no one likes you.
